Rethinking Teaching and Learning in the
Age of Artificial Intelligence

About the Project

The AI4TEACHERS project aims to enhance AI literacy among educators, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to integrate AI tools effectively into their teaching practices. Through a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), teachers will gain insights into the latest research on AI in education, the ethical implications of AI use, and its potential to transform pedagogy. The project will also develop a comprehensive AI4TEACHERS Handbook, offering ready-to-use, cross-curricular teaching materials that leverage AI tools to enhance classroom learning.

The project’s objectives include promoting teachers’ professional development in AI, helping them understand how AI can support student learning, and fostering a more engaging, creative, and motivating educational environment. Additionally, AI4TEACHERS will engage policymakers and school leaders to prioritize AI integration in education, ensuring its inclusion in national policy agendas for a future-ready education system.

With a focus on digital transformation and developing key competences for both educators and students, this initiative will empower teachers to navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape, ensuring they are resilient to technological changes and equipped to inspire students with the transformative potential of AI.

Objectives

The following objectives outline the main goals and direction of the AI4TEACHERS project.

Objective 1

Promote AI literacy to teachers through continuing professional development to achieve their digital transformation and be in sync with AI progress

Objective 2

Forward the use of AI tools in the classroom to help children understand their capabilities as supporting tools in the learning process

Objective 3

Make learning more engaging, creative and motivating through AI to improve learning outcomes

Objective 4

Convince decision-makers of the importance of AI in education and include it in their policy Agendas to bring change

target groups

Primary school teachers

They will learn how to integrate AI into teaching, classroom management, and daily practice. They will participate in the MOOC and LTTA, pilot-test the MOOC, Handbook, and AI-based teaching materials, and provide feedback for improvement.

School leaders

They will understand the benefits of AI in education and support its integration through investments in resources and training.

Students

As final beneficiaries, they will engage in AI-supported learning and help improve materials through their feedback.

Teacher trainers

They will use the MOOC and Handbook to replicate and expand AI training, strengthening teachers’ professional development.

Educational organisations and stakeholders

Through dissemination activities, they will be encouraged to adopt and promote the project’s results.

Objectives
